Zack's 5th Birthday - Magic Show Party

For Zack's 5th Birthday we celebrated with family and lots of his school friends with an amazing Magic Show Party.
We hired a local children's entertainer Nicky Trix who has just amazing! I had heard lots of great reports about his show and he didn't disappoint, Nicky kept the kids (and adults) entertained for 2 solid hours with an amazing magic show,  bubble machine, game show, dance competition and loads more!
Zack was super excited about his party and having all his friends attend - He can be quite shy sometimes so I was surprised when he was at the front participating in all the fun - and absolutely loving it!
To tie in with the magic show I made party food boxes decorated with a playing card and stars and printed magic themed labels for fruit shoot bottles - tables were decorated in red and yellow table cloths and balloons in keeping with the colour scheme - doing the food boxes and getting everything set up in advance was such a good idea as it meant that I could really enjoy the party as well - and take lots of photos!
For the going home party bags - I found the perfect little magic sets together with a whoopie cushion for the boys and a skipping rope for the girls and a sweet cone that made with a cute tag that said "thank you for making my birthday magical"

Messy Church - Harvest Festival

Yesterday Zack and I attended the Messy Church Harvest Festival.

Messy Church is an activity based service which meets every few months with an emphasis on learning about the Bible and Christian faith in a fun and creative way and where families can enjoy quality time together

We celebrated Harvest Festival with some amazing activities and the produce donations will be going to the the food bank in Chelmsford which services those in need in the local community.

Conker Run! - Zack loved this!
Soda Bread making
this was VERY popular! and unfortunately we didn't have enough time to make them
Vegetable paint printing
Zack likes to help set up the AV - ready for the songs and readings!
Thanks again everyone at  SWEC for another enjoyable Messy Church.

Five on a Friday

Look who got their act together for Five on a Friday this week!

ONE:  Zack turned five this week - I cannot believe where the time has gone! we are celebrating this week with a magic show birthday party!
TWO:  Life has been crazy busy recently and I am trying to get myself a little more organised - I picked up this cute meal planner from Paperchase - I am hoping this might help me plan my weekly meals a little better - I shall keep you posted!
THREE:  We love cocktails in our house! - I just had to get this Rhubarb and Ginger Gin Liqueur when I saw it - think it will be lovely with some tonic or even in a trifle! - yum!
FOUR:  At our Luau BBQ party the other weekend I served Grilled corn on the cob with Chilli & Lime butter - I was going to make my own then I spotted the Lurpak Infusions range in my local supermarket and being so time poor this was the perfect solution! - It is also delicious with topped onto fish and baked in the oven with tin foil.
FIVE:  I turn the big 40 next week! I have been organising a Casino Royale Party for the last six months so our family and friends can celebrate this milestone birthday with me - I cannot wait to share the party details with you next week!

First Day of School

The first day of term which we have had circled on the calendar has finally arrived this week - we have been anticipating this date with both excitement and sadness, as it dawns on me that my boys are growing up so fast and I sometime just want to freeze time and take things a little slower!

Zack started is first day in reception class and Josh his first day of pre school,  I thought that I would be an emotional wreck this week but I am so proud of how both my boys breezed through their first days and loved every minute of it and are both settling into their new routines really well.

Here are a few photos I snapped of the first day back at school.
